I'm Batman

Beating the bad guys, Rescuing the damsel in distress

You were expecting a post about Cryptology? Too bad. Not gonna happen.

Why? I don’t feel like it. I’m not ready for it. Cryptology is cool but it’s not what I want to write about.

Up until this point, BatmanIAm has been about structure. I’ve created a Batrubric and insisted on following it pragmatically like a boring university class.

But there is NOTHING pragmatic about wanting to be a vigilante in black tights.

I dare you - Go up to any stranger and tell them your life’s goal is to be Batman. Assuming you aren’t 12 or younger, be prepared to receive weird looks and the occasional asinine comment about being thrown into a mad house. But deep down, EVERY man desires to be the hero. Every man desires to be the gun-slinging cowboy or the swashbuckling pirate. Society has tried at large to suppress these desires. We’re pressured to be ‘sensible’ men and women, to become civilized, grow-up, and put away our pipe dreams. But our passions, our primal fixation with adventure, will not be denied. To them I quote Frank Miller’s Dark Knight Returns.

You know it in your soul
For I am your soul
You cannot escape me…
…Smolding, I burn you—
Burning you, I flare, hot
And Bright and Fierce
    And Beautiful
You cannot stop me—Not
with wine or vows or
the weight of age
You cannot stop me but
still you try— still

    you run

Every generations has their heroes. Robin Hood, King Arthur, Zorro, Jack Bauer, the list goes on an on. My hero is Batman. He’s awesome. He is the pinnacle of excellence both in body and mind. He overcomes the odds and only gets better with time. He is a renaissance man, embodying a mosaic of every protagonist ever written about. Batman is a symbol and cannot be corrupted. He is uber manly: Rescuing the defenseless and kicking ass. My inner being longs to be just like him - and better.

And that’s what BatmanIAm is about. A mans illogical, untamed, inner desire to be the hero. No more rubric. Just posts stemming from my soul.

Cryptography!

Be careful what you say behind closed doors. A little

batty may hear you unaware. - Comicbook provern

Your data is not safe. Batman will get it. Batman knows

what makes you tick. Spending history, web browsing

habits, interpersonal relationships, hobbies - your

entire livelihood at the mercy of a silent watcher.

This is not the work of a fictitious imagination. The

Information Age has ensured that your skeletons in the

closet are now more exposed than ever. Criminals are

constantly developing new methods of eavesdropping on

the way we communicate - electronically.

In ancient times, codes were devised to keep sensitive

information privy to an intended recipient. Today,

government and large corporations encode messages with

complex mathematical algorithms. Whenever you use your

visa, send an email or text, enter a web address - all that

must be encrypted to prevent viewing and use by

unscrupulous personnel.

Cryptography is the science of keeping messages secure

Cryptanalysis is the science of breaking the ciphertext

The mathematics covering both is called cryptology.

Though cryptographic techniques are used in many

devices, they are especially prevalent in areas

involving the internet.

APPLICABLE FIELDS OF STUDY

Linear algebra

Group Theory

Batmethods

Greetings to my current two followers (And anyone else who reads this afterward)

It’s been a long time since my last post but don’t think I’ve forgotten about this blog or given up on being Batman! My endeavour will often take second place to my business life.

In this post I’d like to talk about my methods. Bruce Wayne began training at a very young age. Since I do not have the advantage of starting early, my goal is to learn in the fastest possible way.

1) Failing

If entrepreneurship has taught me anything it’s that if you must fail, fail fast. For in failing we gain experience and narrow our focus on what it takes to be successful. The truth is there is nothing quite like experience and failure offers plenty of it. And, better to fail now than when on the prowl for criminals.

2) Mentorship

While failure offers many benefits it’s still wise to learn from those who have gone before. An experienced mentor can tell you what works and what doesn’t. He/she can word things in a way that paper and print cannot. Find a mentor - for anything! You will shave loads of time off your training!

3) Community

Many experts will tell you the fastest way to learn a language is by being around native speakers. Such is true of anything. Integrate yourself into a community who lives and breathes the skill sets you want to learn. It will become second nature in no time!

4) Practice

Of course, to actually be effective you must test what you’re learned. Do it over and over and over. But do it quickly of course.

In my last post I’ve outlined the prerequisites to becoming Batman. Based on that list, can you guys recommend any cool communities you like to visit?

Very first video entry guys! I am anticipating to update this blog every Sunday. Please leave comments.

Hello. My name is Chad and I’m The BATMAN

This blog was created to document my progress in becoming the Dark Knight himself. Yes, you’ve read that correctly. I will endeavor to become THE Batman. Now, I don’t mean to say I’ll be strapping on a utility belt and cowl (yet). Rather, I will be focusing on the feats Batman can perform.

Most men and women admire Batman because he is an accomplished hero without being gifted with any apparent super powers. He earns our respect through his discipline, knowledge, wisdom, and action. In short, he is every bit the man I wish I was.

Surprisingly, my comic book library is not well populated compared to many others. I’d say I read comics a little more often than the average person. There are many more avid batfans than me. It is for this reasons I will be taking suggestions on what areas to focus on. After all, only failure and disillusionment meet those without a specific plan.

I’m talking things like:

-Can lift object A

-Can read peoples emotions via slight facial expressions

-Deductive prowess

The list is pretty extensive so I’ll leave the rest up to you guys!
